Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, better known by her stage name of Ari Lennox, is an American singer and musician from Washington, D.C., who was the first female to join J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. In October of 2016 Ari Lennox dropped her Pho EP. It was here that she gained recognition. Shea Butter Baby, her debut studio album was released the 7th of May, 2019. Ari Lennox started uploading music to the Internet in 2012 after she dropped her first mixtape Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in the year 2013. In 2014 she continued to share her music over the internet, including her self launched single Bound. In July of 2015, she appeared on Omen's album Elephant Eyes with the track Sweat it Out. J. Cole had her submit her tracks in the direction of his Dreamville Team later that year because he was hoping for Rihanna to collaborate with her on some references. On the 8th of December that she was signed to Dreamville Records. She made an appearance on the joint album Revenge of the Dreamers II featuring the track Backseat Cozz. She released Pho, her debut album on the 21st of October, 2016. Ari Lennox appeared in J. Cole's Change track, and performed on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. In 2018, she went on to be a guest on two songs with her label-mates EarthGang on Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox debuted her first single from Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on July 16, 2018. A music video was followed by a music video in September. Then on the 9th of November 2018, she released another two singles called 40 Shades of Choke (and Grampa). In November 13, she released two more singles called One and Pedigree. One or Pedigree. She was featured with Cole on the Creed II Soundtrack on Shea Butter Baby the 16th of November 16th, and released the song as a single by herself to her debut album. In February 2019, her music video to this song was released. The track has garnered over 3 million YouTube views in just one week. In December of 2018 she performed on her From East Atlanta With Love Tour, which featured 6LACK.
